Digital Immigrant

As I am getting more familiar with the computer and all its functions, I feel that I am accomplishing some of my classroom work. One of my instructors in the digital tech program told me that since I am DIGITAL IMMIGRANT that I will learn more than the rest of the students in the class. Do you know what? He is correct in that statement.

Yes, Bill I have learned so much that my head is swimming in Twitter, Post posterous, Diigo, Blogs, Google, Google Wave, Google Docs, and etc. It seems like I am spending a lot of evenings with Bill helping me get onto Forum, because I couldn’t seem to get on it. I feel sorry for his wife, because his wife must be wondering why is he staying so late on Wednesday nights. Bill’s excuse is valid because he is helping the DIGITAL IMMIGRANT.

In the future, after I have finished this program I am beginning to obtain some DIGITAL IMMIGRANT students who wish to learn certain things from me of all people. They know my story and the frustrations that I have in the land of Digitalist.

My other professor at Azusa Pacific advised students to take the time for themselves and their families. She also said, “If you have problems and you’re stuck on something for 20 minutes. Walk away from it and give me a call.” I’ve taken that advice, because I could spend hours on the computer to just figure something out and I would go no where. Usually, I am a CAN DOER, but never in my lifetime that I have experienced so much frustration. I still am stubborn enough to stick on the Digital road of Digital Tech Education.

MY ADVICE IS: If you are ever frustrated with just anything. Take time to leave the problem by seeking help, take a nap, take a walk, or do something else. Go back to the problem and you might surprise yourself by solving it in less time. If you decide to stay up until 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning trying to solve a problem you’ll be too tired to see the light before the forest. So take my advice and the professor’s,”Take a break and do something else and after awhile look it over. If it still doesn’t make sense within 10 minutes. ASK FOR HELP.”
